In fact, people with PTSD can be at risk of developing a wide range of unhealthy behaviors, such as deliberate self-harm,?? eating disorder behavior, or substance abuse. It is believed that most of these behaviors develop as a way of coping with the intense thoughts and feelings that often accompany PTSD. Gambling Disorder So, what is gambling disorder? According to the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, gambling disorder is considered an addictive disorder. It includes the following symptoms:?? A preoccupation with gambling.A need to gamble with more and more money in order obtain a certain level of excitement.Repeated efforts to stop or reduce gambling that are unsuccessful.Feeling restless and irritable when trying to stop gambling.Often gambling when feeling distressed (helpless, guilty, anxious, depressed)Continuing to gamble even when money is lost.Lying to family members or other significant people so they dont know about your gambling.Lost a job, relationship, career, or similar opportunity because of gambling.Relying on others to help out with finances that have been negatively impacted by gambling. To be diagnosed with a gambling disorder, a person must have at least four of the above symptoms in a one-year period. Studies have found that anywhere between 0.4 to 4 percent of the general population will have a problem with gambling at some point in their lives.?? But it appears as though certain groups of people may be more likely to develop a gambling problem, such as college students, people with a substance use problem, and people with PTSD. Gambling and PTSD Studies of people with gambling problems have found that up to 34 percent also have PTSD.?? In addition, people with gambling problems who also have PTSD are more likely to experience problems such as anxiety, depression, substance use, impulsivity, and they may even attempt suicide. It is generally thought that people with PTSD may be more likely to gamble to try to escape from their problems or their symptoms of PTSD. Gambling may bring about some temporary relief or escape, and when a person is winning, it can also bring on a high thats similar to the reported high experienced by people who use substances. This high may be particularly desirable for someone with PTSD who is experiencing frequent and intense anxiety and other negative emotions; however, this relief is short-lived, and a person may quickly desire to gamble some more. More gambling tends to result in more financial loss, as well as the potential for greater despair. Getting Help if You Have Problems Gambling and/or Have PTSD Treatments for PTSD, as well as for gambling, are available;  however, some people with PTSD and gambling disorder may be less likely to pursue these treatments due to shame or denial. As we draw closer to spring, colleges and universities across the country are working hard to get through hundreds of thousands of college applications to the class of 2022 in order to deliver regular decisions by the end of March. Harvard University has already signaled that its regular decision release date for the class of 2022 will be March 28, 2018, and since the Ivy Leagues tend to release on the same day, we anticipate decisions from the other seven Ivies then as well (unless otherwise noted.) The class of 2022 admissions cycle was another record-setting one, with some of the country’s top institutions, including Harvard University, NYU, Brown University, and Yale University, among others, reporting record-high application numbers. McDonaldization as a management logic has spread further than the fast food industry from which it originated. Choose a case study and discuss. Few modern management models have escaped influences of objectification, commodification and standardisation. This paper looks into the McDonaldization and management application of healthcare program design and deliverance of Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP). The case study further analyses the universal management structure of community based health care organizations that systematically apply George Ritzer’s theory of McDonaldization. The case study chosen, relates to the management logic behind the drive for standardisation and efficiency of the logic model served up to consumers receiving OTP which are managed parallel to the practice of McDonald’s management ‘Get ’em in and get ’em out’ (Ashton, 2007). Treatment objectives of OTP clinics are aimed at reducing mortality rates, to improve each consumer’s physical and psycho-social well-being, and containment of illegal drug abuse (McArthur, 1999, p. 11). There are many threats today that can compromise the security of a network. Network security is now more important as ever as attacks on networks that hold valuable information are being breached, even with security measures put in place. One of the biggest threats to a network is data theft. Outside hackers pose the greatest threat. These thieves target a company’s network and steal information through vulnerabilities that they have found in their networks. They usually gain access through the use of a Trojan horse, which is a program that looks legitimate but can be used by others to gain access to the network. They may also use a virus or worm, which can infiltrate a network with malicious code and replicate itself in a network. Others try to gain entry by attempting to crack the network passwords or user accounts. We hear in the news how networks that were supposed to be secure were breached and information was stolen that could have negative consequences. Yahoo discovered that their network had been attacked continuously for the past two years but only recently discovered it. Information that was stolen ranged from users birth dates to passwords that were encrypted (Lien). When a network has been successfully breached and information stolen, the company who has fallen victim to this not only sees their reputation hurt but also suffer a large drop in their stock prices. One popular story about fatalism in the philosophical world is that of Oedipus who was prophesied to kill his father and marry his mother. A classic lesson from our father’s talks is to be responsible for our choices and act ions. With hard determinist’s view on predeterminism, there is no way for us to be responsible for our actions since we never freely made the choice to commit the action. For an example, let’s go back to the story of Oedipus. From a deterministic view, Oedipus killed his father and married his mother based on a prophecy that predetermined his actions. Therefore, his actions were not his choice and the consequence should be lifted from him and placed on the maker of the prophecy. Even his choice to run away wasn’t his choice at all, but a predetermined choice to fulfill the prophecy. The world needs personal responsibility or it will diminish into chaos, unless, that’s already predetermined. Ernest Hemingway is an American twentieth century novelist who served in World War I. During World War I, he served as an ambulance driver for the Italian army. He wrote the novel The Sun Also Rises in Paris in the 1920s. Hemingway argues that the Lost Generation suffered immensely after World War I because of severe problems with masculinity, alcohol, and love. Masculinity creates a strong tension amongst the male characters in The Sun Also Rises. The clearest example is the impotency of the main character Jake Barnes. Jake explains to Georgette how he was hurt during the war in order to prevent her from becoming infatuated with him (Hemingway 22). The battle wound rendered Jake impotent, so he cannot be with his love, Brett Ashley. Throughout the novel, Jake witnesses Brett’s affairs with other men; his insecurity is enhanced.
